Will A Million Little Things be renewed for a third season?

Eyes are on the shows that ABC will choose to cancel or renew. A Million Little Things is one with an open fate. Will it be renewed for a third season?

Every now and then, a TV show is way more than a TV show. That’s certainly the case for A Million Little Things. It’s a story about friendship, love, grief, life, and much more. It’s one of the ABC shows still with an open fate. Will ABC cancel or renew A Million Little Things for Season 3?

The live TV ratings is the best way to figure out the potential for a show. However, it’s worth pointing out that ABC shows all head to Hulu. We don’t get to see the Hulu ratings, but there are high chances that if the live ratings are good, so will the Hulu ratings.

For now, we’re just looking at the chances of renewal based on the live TV ratings. And things are looking good for A Million Little Things.

Down but steady

A Million Little Things Season 2 did see a small dip from the first season. That’s not all that surprising. Most TV shows will see dips in the ratings between seasons. On ABC, only Station 19 has bucked the trend.

Despite the small dip in the audience (although the demo is around 20%), the show sits in seventh place out of 19 shows on the network. This is a great sign that the series will be picked up for a third season.

What’s even better is when you consider the total audience, the show sits in fifth place out of all 19. There’s absolutely no reason for ABC to cancel this show.

There will always be stories to tell

One of the worrying things for TV shows is running out of stories. That’s definitely not going to be the case for this series. This is a show about life, especially life after a shocking death. There are always going to be stories to tell. And there’s always going to be great writing that comes with it.

We have a couple adopting a baby, a couple dealing with life after an affair, a widow who is considering moving on, and a couple that has broken up but definitely should be back together. There are focuses on sexism and homophobia in the workplace, elements on addiction, and then there is the cancer remission storyline. With so much that’s already happened, there are clear stepping blocks for storylines in the future.

I don’t think we have to worry about the fate of this heartfelt drama. This is a show that should be renewed for a third season.
