ABC fall 2020 schedule: Moves to one comedy night a week
After all four other networks revealed their schedules, we now get to see the plans for ABC. Here’s a look at the ABC fall 2020 schedule.
It was only a matter of time before ABC would finally unveil its plans for the fall. It’s the last network to reveal the plans, but we now get to see what it wants to do with an unprecedented year for TV. Here’s a look at the ABC fall 2020 schedule.
One of the biggest surprises is the move from three nights of comedy to just one. Although, arguably, moving to just one night of comedy shouldn’t be that surprising. Like other networks, ABC has struggled a little with comedy in recent years, but it’s always tried to keep Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays as comedy night, even just for an hour.
That’s not happening in fall 2020. All comedy shows will air on Wednesday night. That means pushing black-ish Season 7 to the midseason and moving The Conners Season 3 to Wednesdays. The latter will act as the lead-in to the only new comedy of the fall season, Call Your Mother. The Goldbergs will kick off the night with American Housewife airing in the 8:30 p.m. slot. Yes, that means mixed-ish is being held for the midseason.

Meanwhile, Station 19 moves back to the fall, with Grey’s Anatomy keeping the 9 p.m. slot it held from the midseason. A Million Little Things will return in the 10 p.m. slot.
The only other new series is the reality program Supermarket Sweep. That’s taking the 8 p.m. timeslot on Sundays, with ABC opting for a night of reality TV except for The Rookie at 10 p.m.
