Will Broke be renewed for a second season by CBS?
We’re looking at the newest comedy on CBS. Broke has certainly impressed viewers, but what about the network? Could Broke Season 2 happen?
All eyes are on the future of Pauley Perrette’s comedy, Broke. The CBS comedy got off to a good start, but is it good enough to ensure Broke Season 2 happens?
For those who have enjoyed Perrette move out of the TV crime drama genre and head to comedy, Broke has definitely been awesome. It’s fun, light, and thought-provoking at times. It’s everything I’d hoped Fam would be during the 2018-2019 season. But what about the future of the series.
We can only look at the live TV ratings, but this isn’t all that will interest CBS. The network will want to see the show’s success through CBS All Access and other delayed viewing. It will also want to see how the show is viewed by fans online. All in all, things are looking positive.
According to TV Series Finale, the series ranks fifth out of all TV shows on the network. This is excellent, especially considering the lack of luck comedies have had in recent years. With a demo average of 0.81, it’s just ahead of Mom, which is returning for an eighth season.
The total audience isn’t as strong, but it’s still strong enough. An average of 6.169 million people have tuned in, putting the show in 15th place. When the demo is factored in with the live audience, there’s positivity to take from the ranking.
A probable renewal
Broke Season 2 is more than likely happening. Sure, the audience isn’t spectacular, but the demo is excellent. We’ve got to remember that this is a spring show. Had the series premiered in the fall, the audience could have been much better.
There are a lot of things working in Broke‘s favor and not just the ratings. With postponed pilots, CBS is going to want to keep some of its strongest performers. It’s not going to want to risk too much on pilots that haven’t filmed yet. There are also lower-performing comedies on the network from the fall, such as Carol’s Second Act.

With it’s strong lead cast and its excellent demo, I think Broke Season 2 is going to happen.
