Will Carina’s move to Station 19 finally give her the storyline she deserves?

Carina is moving to Station 19 full time. That is actress Stefania Spampinato is heading there. Does this mean she’ll finally get a decent storyline?

There are some changes coming to Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy. While two men are promoted to series regular on Grey’s Anatomy, the firefighter spin-off will see a doctor move over full time. Stefania Spampinato’s Carina will be part of Station 19 Season 4.

The two men are Richard Flood and Anthony Hill, according to TVLine. It looks like Meredith and Maggie are getting some more love-focused storylines.

As for Spampinato’s change, it makes sense considering the way Carina’s storyline was going. With her relationship with Maya Bishop, she spent more time on the firefighter drama. This doesn’t mean she can’t pop up on Grey’s Anatomy in the future, but it opens up the door to offer more storylines for Carina.

After all, Carina has been one of the most underused characters available. She’s fun, flirty, and smart. This is a woman with a kind heart and a go-get-’em attitude, and yet, she’s been relegated to storylines that involve relationships. And that’s it. She was introduced as a love interest for Arizona and now she’s a love interest for Maya Bishop. Apart from her being Andrew deLuca’s sister, there’s not much that we know about her.

Can we have something more?

The end of Station 19 Season 3 saw her forgive Maya. However, that drama isn’t over yet. Maya still hasn’t accepted that her dad was abusive, and part of that is possibly fear that it means she is too. Nor has Maya decided to seek help to change her attitude when it comes to fear and pain.

She’s going to push Carina away again. The minute things get difficult for Maya, she bolts. That’s just been her attitude from the start, especially when it comes to relationships. And I fear that all we’re going to get in Carina be part of the relationship drama moving forward.

I need Carina to get storylines of her own. I want to see her at work or witness her with friends. It’s time for her to stop being a pawn in someone else’s storyline and have her own for a change.
