The Good Doctor Season 3 has wrapped its third season as intended. It comes with news that two characters won’t return for The Good Doctor Season 4.
Caution: There are spoilers for The Good Doctor Season 3 finale in this post. Read at your own risk.
What an ending to The Good Doctor Season 3! Did anyone really expect to say goodbye to an original character? On top of that, we’ve found out we’re saying goodbye to a second character before Season 4 airs.
The great news is that The Good Doctor Season 4 is definitely happening. The renewal came in earlier this year, before the coronavirus pandemic. What we didn’t know was that we’d be losing a couple of characters, one of those being a fan-favorite original character. So, who are we losing exactly?
RIP Dr. Neil Melendez
Sadly, the third season finale saw the death of original character Dr. Neil Melendez. According to a TVLine, the decision to leave wasn’t actor Nicholas Gonzalez’s, but it did come at a good time for him. However, that doesn’t mean he’s not sad to say goodbye to the series.
Fans certainly aren’t happy with the decision to kill off Melendez. He has always been a voice of reason and compassion throughout the series.
There was no coming back from the internal injuries he suffered after the partial building collapse. And now there’s definitely no coming back unless as a ghost or a memory.
But we already knew that. There’s one exit that’s happened after The Good Doctor Season 3’s finale. Who is it?
Goodbye Dr. Carly Lever
In a way, it’s not all that surprising. After Carly’s relationship with Shaun broke down, it was only a matter of time before she left. Carly hasn’t been on the screen for a month, despite being billed as a series regular.
Jasika Nicole is definitely not returning to the series in the fourth season. At least, she’s not going to be a series regular, according to another article from TVLine. There is the possibility she could return now and then, but not in the capacity we’ve come to know her over the last set of episodes.

The Good Doctor has been renewed for Season 4 and will hopefully return in fall 2020. That will depend on when filming can start back up again.
