All eyes are on whether our favorite shows will return for another season. NBC has made a decision about Chicago Fire. Is it good news?

When it comes to firefighter dramas, there is no doubt that we look forward to Chicago Fire. This is a series with some great calls, but also some even better personal storylines. We really get to know the life of the firefighters and how the whole system works.

Of course, as a show goes on for a while, there are concerns that it will be canceled. Shows get much more expensive to create, and there’s a chance too many cast members will want to leave. There’s also the problem of declining ratings. So, what’s the decision about Chicago Fire for the 2023–2024 season?

Chicago Fire Season 12 is officially happening

It’s great news for fans of the entire One Chicago franchise. All three shows have been renewed. Deadline reports that the season will have the usual 22 episodes. That suggests that it will remain part of the fall lineup.

There’s no reason for NBC to change anything. The series is one of the strongest on the network. In fact, it’s one of the strongest on all of network TV. Why change the placement in the season or even the lineup in the week? We’re just waiting for NBC’s May Upfronts presentation to confirm the fall schedule.

It’s not yet clear if Taylor Kinney will be back. The actor left the series abruptly for personal reasons, but there was the intention that he would return. Since then, everyone has been very silent. We’re hoping to see him return for the 12th season.
