NBC is finally making some big decisions about its lineup. Will Chicago Med return for Season 9, or has the series been canceled?
We are getting closer and closer to May, and there are still a lot of shows still on the bubble. NBC has finally started making some decisions. The latest is all six Dick Wolf shows that air on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Chicago Med is the only medical drama out of the lot. It’s the third of the One Chicago spin-offs, but the first to air on Wednesday nights. Will this continue in the 2023–2024 season?
Chicago Med Season 9 is officially happening
NBC brought us good news. According to Deadline, Chicago Med is renewed for a ninth season. On top of that, it will have a full 22-episode order.
As of right now, NBC has not confirmed if it will remain on Wednesday nights. We’ll get to see the fall schedule at the May Upfronts, but we can’t see anything changing for the network. NBC chose to keep the 10 p.m. ET/PT timeslot for original programming after all, so we’re sure to see the One Chicago lineup remain intact since it is still performing so well.
As it has a 22-episode season, that suggests it is getting a fall start. Very few shows that start in the midseason get the full season order. Only The Blacklist has really had that treatment. So, it looks like we can expect Season 9 of the medical drama in September 2023.
