Chilling Adventures of Sabrina may have had 10 more episodes
Hate the fact that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was canceled? It turns out it may have been a victim of the pandemic.
If you hated hearing that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was canceled, you are certainly not alone. There remain calls to bring the show back, but it turns out that it may have been another victim of the pandemic.
According to Ross Lynch in an interview with NME, he says there may have been 10 more episodes after the upcoming final season. He states that the coronavirus pandemic is the reason for the cancellation, rather than Netflix being its usual annoying self when it comes to canceling good shows or shows with plenty of potential.
This makes us feel a tiny bit better about the cancellation. At least it means another renewal decision isn’t reversed.
10 more episodes to tell the story
Lynch, who plays Harvey Kinkle on the supernatural series, says that there were 10 more episodes planned for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina ($). And he thinks that Netflix would have given the show them.
It makes sense for showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa to plan in 10-episode blocks. Netflix would have likely renewed for 10 more episodes considering all previous seasons were made up like this.
(Actually, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is two seasons long with the show being released in parts, so each season is 20 episodes long but a lot of people have been confused by that.)
There was going to be a crossover with Riverdale during the fifth season. With enough time to plan, this could have been viable. Would everything been on the same timeline? We’re not sure about that; and now we’ll never get to know.
Better than a reversed renewal for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
Let’s be honest, though. The cancellation of the show is better than having the show renewed and then that renewal reversed. If the show had been confirmed for another 10 episodes, the ending to Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 4 would have been some sort of cliffhanger. It would have catapulted us into the story for the next block of episodes.
Netflix has reversed the renewal on a number of shows, including the final season of GLOW. Fans of those shows are going to be left with unresolved storylines. Would we really want that to happen to Chilling Adventures of Sabrina? I certainly wouldn’t!
Instead, we’ll get some closure. And there’s always the hope of Riverdale including some of the characters for a crossover in the future.

I still don’t get it – The pandemic will end – Why not continue Sabrina after the worst of the pandemic is over – I thought someone would have addressed that by now
It’s to do with money and keeping the cast locked in contracts/trying to renew after expiry. Yes, the pandemic will end, but from a business point of view, it’s financially better to end a project and move onto something else with more surety than hope to restart a current project when contracts and options could expire and not everyone may have wanted to sign back on after so long.
