If you were hoping for more from the new CSI team, you’re in a lot of luck. CBS has renewed CSI: Vegas for a second season.

CSI: Vegas Season 2 is officially a go. TVLine reported the exciting (and somewhat surprising) news. The live ratings weren’t all that great for the series, but it turns out that the show benefited from the delayed ratings. Viewership grew by 60% due to the delayed ratings, and the DVR ratings took it up by 83% from the live numbers.

The show will remain with CBS. This isn’t a series like SEAL Team, where it moved to Paramount+ for its fifth season.

What to expect on CSI: Vegas Season 2

The show is going to move on to focusing on the new Crime Lab team members. Stars Paula Newsome, Matt Lauria, Mandeep Dhillon, and Mel Rodriguez will return to the show and will continue to investigate all the cases that come their way.

There is no word on Whether William Petersen and Jorja Fox will return. There are no expectations for them as they only agreed to a one-season storyline. However, Jorja Fox may return to the show if she wants. Petersen only wanted to do the 10 episodes (although that may have changed) but he will remain as an executive producer.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: The Complete Series ($)

There isn’t any clear indication on what to expect on CSI: Vegas Season 2 other than that. The series will likely return to the procedural format. The first season was billed as an event series, but it did have cases of the week each episode while Gil and Sarah focused on clearing David Hodges’s name. Without them, we may see the format return to what we know and love when it comes to this franchise.
