Daniel refuses to let his dojo disappear in Cobra Kai. How will he manage to keep it going while honoring an agreement?
Caution: There are spoilers from the Cobra Kai Season 4 finale in this post.
The truth is, Daniel LaRusso doesn’t really want to honor the agreement. He knows that something isn’t right, and he knows that Terry Silver and John Kreese wouldn’t have honored their end of the agreement if they’d lost. So, why should Daniel do the same? He just can’t play fair with these two.
In fact, we know that Silver didn’t play fair. He bought off the umpire to make sure Cobra Kai won. Tory has found out the truth, but it’s not clear yet what she will do with that information. Will she do the right thing and at least tell Daniel? It may not change anything without proof, but it will help Daniel know that not honoring the agreement is the right thing.
Daniel has a friend in his corner in Cobra Kai Season 5
At the end of the fourth season, Daniel went to Mr. Miyagi’s grave to get some advice. However, it wasn’t his late mentor and father figure who he was talking to. There was someone else there.
Chozen has arrived in California. Daniel wants his help, and of course, Chozen has said yes.
When Daniel went to Japan during the third season, we got a chance to see the two of them gain a better understanding of each other. Their fight back in the ’80s was all water under the bridge. Now it was time for them to learn that there are other styles of karate and that enemies can become friends. Daniel left Japan with a greater respect for Chozen, and it’s clear that worked both ways.
Chozen joining Daniel is certainly an excellent way around the agreement. Chozen can open his own dojo and train the Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang students. He knows Daniel’s style, and he can bring his own. The students will have far more skills when it comes to facing Cobra Kai again.
