Friends Reunion Special coming in May 2021
It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for. The Friends Reunion Special finally has a release date on HBO Max. And it’s this month!
It wasn’t that long ago that the Friends Reunion Special even started filming. We didn’t expect to see the release until much closer to the summer. HBO Max has pleasantly surprised us.
The Friends Reunion Special is set to air on Thursday, May 27. It’s titled “The One Where They Got Back Together,” following the title format used for all 10 seasons of the series.

What to expect on the Friends Reunion Special
The special is going to be very much like the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air special. The cast of that one shared the highs and lows of the series, giving a few favorite moments and paying tribute to James Avery, who played Uncle Phil. There’s no doubt that he was the best character on the whole series, especially when it came to emotional moments.
The special also gave a chance for air to clear between Will Smith and Janet Hubert, who played the original Vivian Banks. That was a long time coming!
So, what will the Friends special offer? This is definitely going to be a trip down memory lane for all. It’s been 17 years since the series was last on the air (with new episodes!) and it certainly kicked off the careers of all. Some of them have continued to grow while others dealt with personal issues, but they are all fondly remembered as Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Ross, Chandler, and Joey.
The teaser trailer for the reunion offers nothing at all. It’s just the six cast members walking together.
There will be a string of guests on the special. TVLine has the full details of them.
