Networks will be making decisions about their bubble shows very soon. What about Grey’s Anatomy? Is Season 19 going to be the last?

We’re into March, and that means we’re looking closely at whether our favorite shows will be canceled or renewed. We’ve had some news about a few shows already, but ABC has remained pretty quiet about some big ones. One of those shows is Grey’s Anatomy.

What we do know is that Ellen Pompeo is stepping back. We also know that Krista Vernoff will not be the showrunner after this season. What does that mean for the future of the series?

Will Grey’s Anatomy be renewed for Season 20?

Is there a chance the series is going to end with the current season? Of course, that is always a risk, but I don’t think that will happen with this series.

Yes, the show has seen a big drop in the average demo and total audience over the years. Even this season saw a big drop in both metrics, but the show remains the No. 2 drama on the network. What’s the No. 1 drama? It’s sister show Station 19. There’s a good chance both shows will be renewed.

It’s hard to say how hard Meredith’s exit is going to affect the ratings right now. There was a big drop from the goodbye episode, but that could just be a drop in general. Nothing felt all that different with Meredith gone considering the series has put a lot of focus on the new interns anyway.

I have a feeling a few contracts need to be signed. The show will want to keep its remaining main cast as much as it can.
