Grey’s Anatomy Season 17 will premiere with a two-hour episode in November 2020

ABC has set its premiere dates for many fall TV shows. Grey’s Anatomy Season 17 is one of them, and it will get a two-hour premiere.

We’re starting to get good news about TV shows. Networks are setting some premiere dates, and ABC is the latest to make some decisions. Grey’s Anatomy Season 17 has a premiere date, and there’s more good news.

The new season will begin on Thursday, Nov. 12. Like from the beginning of 2020, the show is sticking with the 9/8c timeslot. This allows Station 19 to start the night and runs into the steamy medical drama. Speaking of, Entertainment Weekly shares that the premiere will be a crossover with Station 19, so it’s three-hours of TV to watch.

This year’s premiere is going to be two hours long. That means we’re waiting a little longer for A Million Little Things to return, rounding out our TGIT lineup.

What to expect on Grey’s Anatomy Season 17

There is certainly some excellent news with the premiere date. And we certainly can’t wait to get two hours of our favorite medical drama. However, what we don’t know is what to expect in the new season.

Both the show and the network are being hush-hush. We know that there will be a coronavirus storyline of some sort. The show will be set in the middle of the pandemic, giving us a look at what hospital staff around the world have been trying to deal with. There is the risk that we’ll say goodbye to a character or two because of this. This is Grey’s Anatomy after all! It’s not afraid to kill off main characters in heartbreaking ways.

Speaking of characters, there are two we’ll get to see more of. Two actors were promoted to series regular.

More of Richard Flood and Anthony Hill

The season will see Cormac Hayes get more screen time. The Shameless actor, Richard Flood, took on the role of Hayes in the 16th season, being introduced as the new Head of Pediatrics at Grey Sloan Memorial. With Alex Karev leaving due to Justin Chambers choosing to leave the series, there was always the likelihood of Hayes becoming a more permanent fixture on the show. There is certainly some potential of a relationship between him and Meredith Grey, especially as they both are widowed with children.

Anthony Hill was in one episode of Season 16 and is now a series regular on the show. He’ll return as Winston Ndugu, Maggie Pierce’s love interest. We’ll see why and where that goes when the show premieres.

For now, let the countdown begin.
