Is Black Lightning Season 5 happening?

When it comes to superhero dramas, there’s no doubt we need more of Black Lightning on our screens. Will Black Lightning Season 5 happen?

Initially not within the Arrowverse (now The CWverse), Black Lightning quickly stood out for great and inclusive writing. It’s one of those shows that brings important storytelling within the superhero genre, and there’s no doubt that we need more.

As The CW shows work their way through new seasons, our eyes on their futures. Black Lightning is one of those shows, one that we definitely need more of. So, will we get it? Will Black Lightning Season 5 happen at The CW?

There is some bad news when it comes to the show. However, at the same time, there is a hint of good news.

Black Lightning Season 5 isn’t happening at The CW

Sadly, before Season 4 even got started, we learned that Black Lightning Season 5 wouldn’t happen. The show is ending with its fourth season. The season is 13 episodes long, bringing an end to the Pierces’ story.

It’s not the ending that we wanted. There are certainly calls for Netflix to save the series. So what could the good news possibly be?

A spin-off is in the works. Episode 7 of the series proved that there are still more stories to tell within the world of the Pierce family. We got a backdoor pilot for a Painkiller spin-off, something that we’re waiting on The CW to decide on. With any hope, the spin-off is picked up to series. There is certainly a place for it in the schedule.

We’ll hopefully find out about the spin-off’s future soon. We’ll be sure to bring the news as soon as we get it.
