Is Brooklyn Nine-Nine renewed for Season 8?

We know Brooklyn Nine-Nine was renewed for an eighth season, but it’s not aired yet. Has Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 8 been canceled?

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 8 was confirmed back in 2020 during the start of the pandemic. The writers quickly got to work, and we hoped that it would air in fall 2020 (or at least whenever other fall shows would air). The cop comedy hasn’t been on at all throughout the 2020-2021 TV season.

There is a little bit of bad news. The season hasn’t been canceled, but we are still going to have to wait for it. This is one of those shows hit with delays but not totally due to the pandemic.

It turned out the writers scrapped all four episodes written during the summer of 2020. With the Black Lives Matter protest, the writers knew they had to do better, and they went back to the drawing board. That’s led to the delay that has pushed Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 8 to the 2021-2022 TV season.

Will Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 8 be the last?

There is a little bit more bad news. While the eighth season is happening, it’s going to be the shortest season of the lot. It will only have 10 episodes.

On top of that, this is the last season of the cop comedy. Unlike when it was unceremoniously canceled by FOX, the writers are going into this season with it being the last. While there isn’t as much time as in the past, there are still plenty of promises of returning faces. Hopefully, the Pontiac Bandit will be back.

We don’t know when the season will premiere just yet. There is a chance that it will be part of the fall 2021 season to give the series a big goodbye.
