Is First Kill cancelled? (Is First Kill Season 2 happening?)
Netflix brought another vampire series in an attempt to drawn in the viewers. Is First Kill Season 2 happening, or is the show cancelled?
Vampires remain a thing. It’s why we’re looking forward to Vampire Academy and Interview with the Vampire*. It’s not surprising to see all streamers looking for a way into the vampire love genre, and Netflix has done that with First Kill.
The series follows teenage vampire Juliette who needs to make her first kill to take her place in her family. She decides new girl Calliope is the perfect victim. The problem is Calliope isn’t everything she appears to be. She’s from a family of slayers, and Juliette is now her target.
The eight-episode series was based on the short story of the same name by V.E. Schwab. It’s part of the Vampires Never Get Old* collection. Schwab served as co-creator and showrunner on the series.
Is First Kill cancelled or renewed for Season 2?
If you missed the series when it dropped last month, that’s not surprising. Netflix didn’t exactly make a lot of noise about it. This is a standard problem for the streamer. There’s too much throughout the month, and it means some potentially good content gets overlooked. Maybe it’s time for Netflix to do what Amazon does and focus on quality rather than quantity.
With this in mind, it probably doesn’t surprise you to hear TVLine reports that First Kill is cancelled. The series just didn’t get the attention it needed, and it also didn’t get the best reviews from fans. The budget just wasn’t there for the story.
It joins recent cancellations in the teen and YA area, including Raising Dion and The Baby-Sitters Club.
