We’re very excited for Max Thieriot to land a lead in another CBS pilot. But we have to ask what this means for Clay in SEAL Team Season 6.

Deadline brought some exciting news for Thieriot. He’s landed a leading role in Cal Fire, a pilot ordered by CBS. It’s worth noting that this is just a pilot for now, but it could be picked up to series. If it is picked up to series, we have to question what this means for Clay Spencer in SEAL Team Season 6.

Right now, Thieriot is the only actor on the series not with a contract in place for the sixth season. This adds to the questions. However, that doesn’t mean the series wants to lose him. Right now, both shows are looking at whether it’s possible to work with Thieriot in both of them.

The good thing about the military series is that Paramount+ is cutting the sixth season to just 10 episodes. That’s bad for us, but it does mean there may be fewer scheduling conflicts for everyone. All 10 episodes will likely be filmed at once, working in a similar fashion to all other streamers.

Could Max Thieriot leave SEAL Team?

We still have to ask this very important question. Sure enough, it is possible that the writers could find a way to write out Clay.

At the end of Season 5, Clay told Jason that he was transferring back to Green Team. He wants to spend more time with Stella and his newborn. As much as Jason would love to keep Clay around, Jason understood that decision. It was one that Jason could have made back in the day but chose not to, and he did pay the price for that.

However, before any of that could happen, Bravo Team was ambushed just after hitting the ground in Mali. It looked like Clay was hit in the eye with shrapnel, which could lead to an injury that could see him medically discharged. We know the series remains true to life a lot of the time, and this could be one of those cases.

We’ll have to wait and see if Cal Fire gets picked up to series.
