Is The Last Kingdom Season 5 coming to Netflix in 2021?
All Arselings are looking forward to The Last Kingdom Season 5. The big question is when it’s coming to Netflix. Will it be in 2021?
We’ve had to wait since April 2020 for more from Uhtred, King Edward, and more. can you believe it’s been almost a year since we watched the fourth installment in the series?
It wasn’t long after that the renewal came in. And the show started filming back in November 2020. Does that mean we’ll get a new season by the end of 2021?
Netflix hasn’t set a date yet, but that’s not surprising at all. There’s no way Netflix will set a date until much closer to the time.
When is The Last Kingdom Season 5 coming to Netflix?
It takes about 14 to 18 months for most Netflix shows to film. Under normal circumstances, we wouldn’t expect to hear about The Last Kingdom Season 5 until much closer to the end of the year. October 2021 would be the earliest date.
So, there is a slim chance that we could get the next season before the end of the year. However, don’t hold out too much hope for that.
I like to look at a more conservative time table. After all, with the pandemic, there’s no way of knowing whether filming can stay on track. There are plenty of TV shows and movies that have had to be put on hold before because of positive COVID cases.
The Last Kingdom tends to keep things quiet. We probably wouldn’t hear if there was a positive case and production had to be shut down. Half the time, we have no idea when filming is going on.
We also know that long breaks can happen. Does anyone remember that break between the second and third seasons?
So, early 2022 is more likely when it comes to the release date for the fifth season.
