Is The Resident renewed for Season 5?
When it comes to bubble TV shows, The Resident is certainly one of them. What’s going on with the renewal? Is Season 5 happening?
We do start this post with some bad news. The Resident Season 5 isn’t yet happening.
However, don’t get too disheartened. FOX hasn’t made many decisions for scripted dramas yet. I mean, 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star still haven’t been renewed, and they’re both FOX’s best shows out of everything!
The lack of renewals is likely linked to the pandemic. The usual fall suspects didn’t premiere until January 2021, which means we shouldn’t be too concerned about no news on them returning just yet. It’s not even clear what FOX’s plans are for the next season.
Will The Resident Season 5 happen on FOX?
When it comes to the future of the show, we want to be optimistic about it. The Resident may have dipped in the live ratings, but it’s still a strong show for the network overall.
Live ratings aren’t the only consideration, but they’re a good consideration for renewals. After all, FOX needs to consider its advertisers!
According to TV Series Finale, The Resident sits in seventh place out of 15 shows when it comes to the demo. It’s even better when it comes to the audience, putting the show in third place behind 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star. This is up against NCIS on a Tuesday night!
It makes sense to renew the show. The only reason FOX wouldn’t is if there is a pilot that could perform better. However, it costs more for a pilot than it does for an established show. There are shows not performing as well as the medical drama that could be canceled instead.
Right now, we’re not concerned. Things are looking pretty good for the medical drama.
