The CW is making some decisions for the 2023-2024 slate. Will Kung Fu return, or is it ending after three great seasons?
Some genderswap reboots are simply unneeded. And then we get the reboots like Kung Fu, where they correct a lot of wrongs. Not only did we get an inclusive show, but it was one that was much more sensitive to Chinese culture and lore. That’s what we want more of on TV right now.
Does The CW agree? The network is making some final decisions about its current slate of shows, and we know if Kung Fu is coming back or not.
Kung Fu will not return for a fourth season
It’s bad news for fans. TVLine reports that The CW has chosen to cancel Kung Fu after three seasons. The good thing about the Season 3 finale is that it can work as a series finale. There are some storylines left open, but there was no major cliffhanger.
In a way, the decision to cancel isn’t that surprising. The CW made it clear that it wasn’t going to renew a lot, and this show didn’t perform that well in the live ratings compared to the likes of renewed All American and Walker. With The Winchesters and more being canceled, it did seem like the writing was on the wall for this series.
It doesn’t sound like the series is being shopped around in the way that The Winchesters and Walker Independence are. This could happen behind the scenes, but we’ll have to wait and see.
