We don’t always need revivals, but the Law & Order revival was one we were all excited about. Is Law & Order canceled or renewed for Season 22?
When you hear the words “reboot” and “revival,” you may initially groan. Isn’t it time creators brought something new instead of rehashing the past? Well, that is often preferred, but there are times that we get very excited for revivals. One of those is when a show has been abruptly canceled and we miss it dearly.
Law & Order was one of those shows. After being abruptly canceled more than a decade ago, we thought that was it. We would never get closure. And then NBC surprised us with news of a revival series that would include Sam Waterston.
Would NBC abruptly cancel the revival, though? That has been on our minds.
Is Law & Order canceled?
There has been some excellent news for all Law & Order fans. The series has been renewed for Season 22. TVLine confirmed that, along with the renewal of Law & Order: Organized Crime. We already knew SVU would return for a 24th season.
What we don’t know yet is whether the flagship series will return in the fall. It was added to the January lineup in 2022, but that was due to a pivot within the franchise direction. Originally, NBC was going to bring us Law & Order: For the Defense in the fall, but that was abruptly canceled during production.
We’ll get to know the fall schedule in May. The premiere dates will then be confirmed in June or July. If the series is added to the fall, we’re looking at it premiering in the last week of September.
