Netflix grants Locke and Key a second season

Locke and Key Season 2 is officially happening. Netflix has renewed the supernatural horror series, and here’s all we know so far.

There’s great news for all Locke and Key fans. Netflix has officially granted the supernatural horror series a second season. What do we know so far?

Deadline shared the great news, saying that the renewal was announced on social media. And it certainly was! We learned about Locke and Key Season 2 thanks to a GIF of a key circling with the number “2” at the top.

Why a delay in the announcement?

Most Netflix Originals are renewed within a month of the release of the previous season. That’s been the case for many TV shows, and we expected the same for Locke and Key Season 2. When Mar. 7 rolled around (a month since the release of the first season), we started to worry about the future of the series. However, it turns out that Netflix was just a little delayed.

There has been a few extra things to deal with right now. The novel coronavirus has caused a few shakeups around the world, including all of Netflix’s productions being put on hold. While we’ve had a bit of news here and there, renewals have likely been the last thing on the streamer’s mind throughout March. Now it’s time to look ahead after the global pandemic.

What do we know?

So, now it’s time to look at what we know about the second season. It’s not a lot. It sounds like the cast and EP aren’t changing, but that’s about all we get to hear. It is early stages for the renewal.

The good news is that we knew Joe Hill and the writers were working on a second season before the first season debuted. This gave us an idea that we would at least get a second season for Locked and Key.

There are a lot of questions after the first season. Now we know there are two demons loose and Ellie is the one trapped in the demon prison. Can the Locke siblings figure it all out before it’s too late?
