Meet the new residents in Grey’s Anatomy Season 19

There are some new faces joining the cast of Grey’s Anatomy Season 19. Here’s a look at who is joining and who they will play.

The end of Grey’s Anatomy* Season 18 brought the Residency Program to an end. At least, that’s the way it looked. With the new casting announcements, it looks like the end is going to be short-lived. It is possible that Meredith becomes Chief and finds a way to solve the problem that shut the program down in the first place.

As filming starts for the series, new cast members are joining. So far, there are three new faces, but we’ll be sure to update when there are others. All three new faces are first-year surgical residents. It really does suggest the Residency Program is coming back.

Who are the new residents in Grey’s Anatomy Season 19?

Alexis Floyd is the first to join the cast. She’ll play Simone Griffin, who Deadline describes as whip-smart, funny, and a high achiever. However, she doesn’t want to work at Grey Sloan Memorial. She has some sort of painful personal history. Which doctor is she going to blame for the death of someone close to her? That’s what I’m expecting to see.

Niko Terho is the second addition as Lucas Adams, and is described by Deadline as the black sheep of the family. He has a great mind and is likable, but his grades never matched his abilities. He wants to prove himself, especially as he comes from a family of surgeons.

Then we have Midori Francis, who will play Mika Yasuda, according to TVLine. She is the middle child with eight siblings, so she is used to being overlooked and underestimated. That’s something she will use to her advantage in the program, as she is under pressure from all the medical student loans she has.

Update: Deadline reports Adelaide Kane will also join the season as a new surgical resident. She’ll play Jules Millin, who was raised by drug-addled artists/hippies and she’s really the only adult in the family. Because of this, she can be bossy and she’s not afraid to break the rules for the right reasons.
