Nine Perfect Strangers: Why is Lars really at the retreat?

Lars (Luke Evans) went to the retreat under false pretenses. The truth was revealed on Nine Perfect Strangers Episode 4. Why is he really there?

From the very beginning, we knew that Lars was at the retreat for something other than to improve mentally and spiritually. The staff seemed to know something was off, especially when they found hidden tech in his room. It didn’t take long for the truth to come out.

It seems like Nicole Kidman’s Marsha knew all along. She invited him to continue the reason he was really there instead of kicking him out of the retreat when she revealed what he’s really there for.

Why is Lars really at the retreat on Nine Perfect Strangers?

What is it? If you thought investigative journalist, you’ll be right. It wasn’t all that hard to figure out, to be honest. The truth is that it doesn’t seem like this was meant to be a major reveal anyway.

The major reveal is that Marsha knew about it. She wants Lars to continue working on his story. She wants him to write the expose afterward, telling him that he could win a Pulitzer because of it.

Why would she want her retreat exposed to the millions when she doesn’t even want it to be on social media? It’s probably because this is going to be written up by a journalist and not just anyone with a social media following. She also clearly thinks that Lars will say good things.

Lars doesn’t know what he’ll write

Grace asked Lars what he was going to write when it came to covering the retreat. He had to admit that he doesn’t know yet.

There are certainly some questionable elements to the retreat. Marsha is literally drugging the people there with illegal drugs. She has her “research,” but it’s not exactly legal. And she’s doing it without anyone’s consent or knowledge at first. There’s a lot of bad that Lars could uncover.

However, the retreat seems to be helping a few people. Frances and Carmel managed to work through some of their anger during the recent episode. Tony has switched to a different drug, but he’s not facing the major withdrawals from oxy that he was experiencing before. Lars also may get help for some of his own issues, and it’s clear that someone thinks he’s a narcissist.

Is it possible that the report will end up being positive, which is what Marsha’s expecting?
