There was a fair bit of disappointing news this weekend. One of Us Is Lying being canceled was just the worst of it for us.
One of Us Is Lying Season 3 is officially not happening. Peacock made the disappointing announcement this weekend, canceling The Vampire Academy at the same time. Deadline brought us the news we definitely didn’t want.
It does come months after the Season 2 finale. In a way the delay makes the cancellation unsurprising, but still definitely disappointing.
Why was One of Us Is Lying canceled?
This is a YA series with a supportive fanbase. You just have to look at the social media chatter to see that. So, why would Peacock cancel the series?
It is possible that the ratings weren’t strong enough. We’re blaming the decision to drop all the episodes at once for this. While binge-watching is fun, it’s not the best for the TV shows. They just don’t stay in the mind’s eye long enough when every episode is released at once.
Deadline also reports that Peacock is moving to its next phase of development. The two YA shows may not fit in with that. However, it is disappointing for fans.
The second season did wrap up a lot of storylines, though. For the most part, we have closure (especially where Natewyn is concerned), but we would love to know who the murderer was at the very end!
