We’ve waited since July to hear about the future of Outer Banks. We finally know if Outer Banks Season 3 is going to happen.

It’s taken six months for Netflix to make a decision on this show. Admittedly, we feared the worse about the show because of this. There were concerns that Outer Banks was canceled.

Netflix brought us an exciting end to 2021. Rather than canceling the series, we now know that Outer Banks Season 2 is definitely going to happen. TVLine confirmed the renewal news.

Who is returning for Outer Banks Season 3?

The third season will see the current cast return. Everyone who was a series regular in the second season will remain as series regulars in the third season. That includes Charles Esten, whose character was almost killed at the end of the second season but left to survive.

We’ll also see another actress promoted to series regular. Carlacia Grant, who played Cleo, in Season 2 has been promoted. We saw Cleo join the group at the end of the second season, and it looks like she’s going to stick around.

What to expect on the new season

We don’t know much about what to expect on Season 3. Things are going to pick up with how the second season ended. All the teens washed up on a deserted island, but it may not be all that deserted after all. There is a chance they’ll finally run into John B’s dad.

Yes, we got that major reveal at the end of the season that John B’s dad wasn’t dead after all. He’d survived being thrown overboard with the head injury. Just how will John B react when he does learn the truth?

Meanwhile, the parents of the other teens were left hanging missing posters. Will they find out what’s happened to their children before the third season ends?
