Fans of Outlander can be even more excited. STARZ plans to continue the universe. An Outlander prequel is currently in the works.

Variety announced the exciting news. Admittedly, this news isn’t all too surprising. We’ve certainly waited for the network to announce some sort of spin-off of the series. After all, this is one of the most popular shows on the premium cable network.

Power is the other highly popular series on the network. It quickly gained spin-off after spin-off. With the success of them, it was only natural for STARZ to look at developing shows within its other popular series.

What is the Outlander prequel spin-off about?

So far, we know nothing about the series. We’re more like Jon Snow from Game of Thrones.

The network and those involved in the series are keeping the plans under wraps. That’s not surprising with just how secretive the series is about the main show despite the fact that we have the books.

We know that Matthew B. Roberts with write and executive produce the series. That’s not surprising with his involvement in the main series. Ronald D. Moore will also executive produce along with Maril Davis under their Tall Ships banner. Again, this is not a surprise considering their involvement in the main series.

The writers’ room is currently being assembled for the project. We’re excited to see what is to come.

We’re looking at it possibly being about Jamie’s parents or maybe Murtagh since it is a prequel series. We know that Diana Gabaldon is working on a prequel novel, though. With that not being out, it does seem a little short-sighted to do a prequel series. Maybe we could have a prequel series about Claire’s parents since Gabaldon has no plans to write about them. There is always the option of Roger’s parents.

Alternatively, this could be set well before the 18^th century. Could we have a prequel series about Master Raymond? It could also be about other time travelers from before Claire.
