The CW has made the disappointing decision to cancel The Winchesters. Could Paramount+ step in to save the Supernatural prequel?

It’s the time of year when we get the disappointing cancellation decisions. The Winchesters was one of those shows this year, but that doesn’t mean it’s all over. Jensen Ackles and co. are fighting hard to find a new home, and we’re looking at the streaming platforms that it could go to.

After all, this series is more likely to head to a streaming platform, right? Could Paramount+ be that platform?

Will The Winchesters head to Paramount+?

While Warner Bros. Studios is one of the production studios behind the show, CBS Studios is another. So, if HBO Max doesn’t want it, why not put it on the ViacomCBS platform, Paramount+? This could work out, except for that like HBO Max, the platform isn’t international. It’s relying on a smaller audience base to be a success.

That being said, we have seen Paramount+ take shows that have struggled on broadcast networks. Evil and SEAL Team were both saved by the streamer. Granted, both shows were CBS shows and already had a following on the streamer, but it still gives us some precedent.

Are there any similar shows on the network? No. This doesn’t have to be a bad thing. It could be a way for the streamer to break into this market.
