Penny Dreadful: City of Angels definitely needs a second season

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels has come to an end for the season. With all those storylines still in the air, we need a second season pronto.

If you were expecting Penny Dreadful: City of Angels to wrap everything up in a neat bow in the finale, you’d be mistaken. This was never designed to be a limited series. It’s clear that there is hope for the show to continue, just like the original Penny Dreadful series.

However, SHOWTIME hasn’t renewed it yet. Penny Dreadful: City of Angels Season 2 definitely needs to happen, with so many questions left over.

Without giving too much away for those who haven’t managed to catch the finale yet, the episode saw many storylines come to a head. The Pachucos found out about Diego being lynched, riots began in the streets, and we said goodbye to a few characters here and there. One of those goodbyes was heartbreaking, but it pushes us into storylines for the second season.

Have the Nazis won on Penny Dreadful: City of Angels?

Of course, we know how history plays out. Yet, right now, it looks like the Nazis have won. The Third Reich have their hands in so many pots in Los Angeles. The ending saw Lewis make one thing clear: the city still needs Lewis and Tiago to help.

The problem is Tiago isn’t the man he once was. He’s fed up of the violence and the racism. He’s lost a person he holds dear. As his morals drop, there’s an opening for Magda to work her way in.

Penny Dreadful: The Complete Series

Who is Magda?

We still don’t really know who or what Magda is. She some sort of goddess or deity, that’s for certain. But it’s not clear which religion she’s from or what she really wants outside of destruction. She wants to tear down everything, proving to Sante Muerte that the humans aren’t even worth saving.

It feels like Magda’s influence on some of the people has only just started. And there are many more that she can worm into. All it’s going to take is more hatred in the town and we’ll end up with everyone against each other.

But there’s still so much to come. All the storylines ended open, especially Peter Craft who may or may not be giving into the hateful ways of the Nazi Party—hate that he doesn’t want to welcome into his life. And, of course, there are still many questions surrounding his wife Linda.

This is a show that needs a second season. Please don’t leave things the way they are!
