Perfect Harmony and Lincoln Rhyme canceled by NBC

It’s one and done for Perfect Harmony and Lincoln Rhyme. NBC has canceled both freshman shows, making us worried about others on the bubble.

It is the end of the line for two freshman shows on NBCPerfect Harmony and Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector have both been canceled. Other shows remain on the bubble, and we hope this isn’t a sign of things to come.

Deadline reported the bad news for fans. No official reason has been given right now, but it looks like ratings were the reason. Both shows performed poorly for their timeslots and the size of the productions.

Personally, Lincoln Rhyme felt like it was more of a limited series until the final moments of the now series finale. It could have worked well without a second case starting up, leaving that for the second season premiere if renewed. Perfect Harmony is disappointing, but NBC has had trouble with comedies in recent years.

A sign of things to come for the network?

Three shows remain on the bubble, and hopefully, the cancellations of Perfect Harmony and Lincoln Rhyme are not signs of things to come. Council of Dads, IndebtedZoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, and Manifest remain on the bubble.

Out of the three, it looks like Indebted is at the most risk. Again, it’s NBC and comedies. The two just aren’t gelling right now, and part of me feels like NBC is trying to push 90s comedies onto us that no longer work all that well.

There’s good news for Manifest Season 3 and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Season 2. Things are looking like a renewal for both. Details need to be ironed out and the network will need to figure out the best way to move forward with them. The passionate fanbases certainly help both shows.

Disappointingly, there’s been no mention of Council of Dads at all in the Deadline article. Was it forgotten or has it been quietly canceled? We’re hoping it’s just the latter and NBC releases the greatness of the show.
