SEAL Team is moving to 10 p.m., is this a good or bad thing?
CBS announced its fall TV scheduled and SEAL Team is getting a time shift from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.. Is this a good or bad thing for the series?
Good news first! SEAL Team is coming back for a fourth season. The series was renewed by CBS, and Bravo Team will be back as part of the fall 2020 TV lineup.
Possible bad news though. CBS has bumped the series from its time slot. It will no longer be airing at 9 p.m. It will now air at 10 p.m. and we’re wondering if this is a good thing or a bad thing for the series?
Unfortunately, it’s all bad! Our gut says there is no good.
When SEAL Team previous aired at 10 p.m. during Season 2 the ratings plummeted so badly there was the risk of the series being cancelled.
The simple fact is the time slot is not a good one. Any show does poorly in this slot. For example, S.W.A.T also aired at 10 p.m. on CBS and suffered poorly in the ratings because of it.

Fingers crossed the curse of the time slot will avoid SEAL Team when it returns with Season 4 later this year. However, if you were looking for a safe bet, this decision by CBS is almost guarantees to hurt the series.
So why move it? Well, CBS had to find room for The Amazing Race, which does better after a new episode of Survivor. Both shows have been going on for longer and are more valuable to CBS, meaning SEAL Team is the one to get the later, more traditionally poor performing, time slot.
Ultimately, there is nothing we can do as fans. It is what it is. We just have to support the show as much as we can and hope the move does no lasting damage.
