CBS midseason premieres share disappointing change for SEAL Team

CBS has announced its lineup for January 2020. There’s one particular show missing from the return dates. It’s a disappointing change for SEAL Team fans.

We know that the midseason finales for all our favorite shows are coming. One of those shows is SEAL TeamAll shows take a break over the Christmas and New Year period, whether we like it or not. Sadly, Bravo Team is going to be gone a little longer than most others.

CBS announced its premiere dates for the midseason. This certainly saw a shakeup to the current schedule. Some of the biggest changes have involved NCIS: New Orleans and SEAL Team. We’re focusing on Bravo Team for now.

If you were hoping the show would return in January 2020, you’ll be disappointed. CBS announced that Criminal Minds Season 15 would premiere in the Wednesday 9/8c timeslot instead. And no, Bravo Team won’t be moving to the later hour. S.W.A.T. continues to hold that timeslot in the new year.

Instead, SEAL Team is being benched for now. We’ll get an eight-week run for the 10 episodes of Criminal Mind‘s final season (the premiere and finale will be two-hour episodes) and then Bravo Team will be back. The guys should be back on Feb. 26, 2020 as long as nothing changes the schedule without much warning.

While it is disappointing, this doesn’t mean anything bad for the future of the series just yet. There’s no need to panic because the show is being benched temporarily. CBS just has more shows than it has timeslots and needs to work around that. More networks are moving into having new and original content throughout the year instead of multiple one- or two-week breaks, so this could allow for that.

Plus, some of the episodes of SEAL Team will still need to be filmed in January to March next year. The show would need time off to allow for that, which is just what this break allows.

I wish we could have the team back right away, but I’d rather have them back for a full run into May instead of lots of week breaks here and there for “scheduling” purposes.

Also, don’t forget that there is a week off this week. There’s no new episode of SEAL Team tonight. Instead, it’s going to be a two-hour episode of Survivor before a new episode of S.W.A.T.
