Despite so many others dying outside, Juliette somehow survived in the Silo Season 1 finale. How was that possible, and what comes next?

We’d already seen people die when they went outside the silo. Allison collapsed as she got to the tree despite seeing greenery. Holston went out a couple of years later to face the same fate, only he took his helmet off.

Was it possible that there was something inside the suit? That would have been the first thought for many. Maybe the world outside was survivable, but something in the suit or in the air lock led to people dying. That was until we watched Juliette figure out the truth and survive.

Juliette realized that the view on the silo screens wasn’t the doctored one. The view that Allison and Holston saw was the fake view. Holston saw as he took his helmet off that the world was a barren landscape. Juliette figured it out thanks to seeing the footage on the illegal drive. She realized the bird pattern was the same.

How did Juliette survive in the Silo Season 1 finale?

So, that would explain why she didn’t take her helmet off. She knew that the view she was seeing was fake, so the world outside was likely the barren wasteland on the screens inside the silo. She wasn’t going to take her helmet off and risk dying.

That didn’t explain why she made it past the tree. Everyone else had died. Bernard even expected her to get to the tree and die. It was only as she got up and continued on that he realized there was a problem. She would figure out the truth.

How did she survive? It was all thanks to the heat tape. You’ll remember that Bernard was angry that she stole heat tape. It kept coming up, but why would he be so bothered by it? Well, the tape wasn’t that good. Walker made a better tape, and Juliette would have known that.

Juliette looked at the tape and realized it wasn’t the heat tape that is usually used. Somehow, Walker’s tape had been put in with the rest of it and was used on Juliette’s suit. That stronger tape has managed to keep the toxins of the world out, giving Juliette time to see the vision on the screen time out and see the real world for what it is. She also got to see the other silos.

What will she do now? Well, she will eventually run out of air. She’ll need to get into a silo at some point, but will any of them let her in? Is there another way to survive out there? Only Silo Season 2 will tell.
