Snowpiercer Season 2 release date, trailer, cast, synopsis, and more

After that cliffhanger ending, our eyes are on Snowpiercer Season 2. It’s already been confirmed, and here’s a look at everything we know.

Snowpiercer Season 1 left us on the edges of our seats. It brought an end to the rebellion storyline but left us with plenty for a second season. The good news is Snowpiercer Season 2 is officially happening, but what do we know so far?

The renewal came ahead of the first season release. There will be 10 episodes in the second season, and showrunner Graeme Manson has already shared that he has plans for Season 3 in the works. In fact, according to Collider, there may even be a fifth or sixth season.

Let’s just focus on Snowpiercer Season 2 for now, though. What do we know so far?

Snowpiercer Season 2 release date

It’s not clear when the second season will premiere just yet. The good news is that some filming started in October 2019, shortly after the renewal came in. However, we don’t know how much of the season everyone got through before March 2020’s shutdowns. It’s probable that the seasons is about halfway done or possibly a little more.

However, it took years of development for the first season to finally premiere. We’re possibly looking at something similar for the second season. The upside is no showrunner changes are happening this year. The cast is also remaining on board. That should all help to cut down the time for the premiere.

We’re probably looking at May 2021 at the earliest, though.

Snowpiercer Season 2 trailer and synopsis

Since some filming has already happened, it meant that TNT could release a sneak peek of things to come. We got a small teaser for Snowpiercer‘s second season, which included Sean Bean as Mr. Wilford.

It’s a short trailer, only giving us a hint of things to come. What we do get to see is that Melanie makes it back inside the train. We hope the train is also moving again, now!

We don’t have a synopsis just yet. Based on the trailer, it’s going to involve a fight against Mr. Wilford.

Snowpiercer Season 2 cast

Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs are still involved in the show. We’ll also get to see a few other familiar faces back, including Alison Wright (Ruth), Mickey Sumner (Till), and Iddo Goldberg (Bennett Knox). We’ll also likely see Lena Hall, Sheila Vand, and Susan Park return. After all, nothing happened to their characters in the finale and their roles have grown over the course of the show.

Of course, the biggest addition is going to be Sean Bean, who will play Mr. Wilford. Some of his Yorkshire accent has been watered down a little for the role, but there’s still no mistaking him. Considering the way Bean’s characters die so much, does this mean we’ll see an end to Mr. Wilford at the end of Season 2? That would certainly lead to the show definitely not catching up to the movie.

Plans for the future

Right now, Manson has plans for a third season. It’s not yet been confirmed, but I do think Snowpiercer will have been a big hit for TNT, especially with the show going to Netflix internationally. We’ll likely see a third season happen, especially if there’s a clear plan for it.

What about after that? It turns out Manson thinks this show has five or six seasons worth of storytelling. That’s going to be exciting!
