Will Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse come to Netflix?

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is one of the most popular movies to watch in theatres right now. Yet, despite its popularity, a lot of fans will be waiting for it to be available to stream before watching. So will Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse come to Netflix?

2018 ended on high for movies. With the likes of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Mary Poppins Returns, Aquaman, Vice, Bumblebee, and more. There was just so much choice at the end of the year.

A huge surprise release was Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Those who followed the movie in the run-up to the theatrical release knew this was going to be a huge hit. But for those who didn’t, it was considered as nothing more than “just another animated kids movie.”

Oh, and how wrong those views were. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse became “THE” movie of choice for many. With nothing but positive reviews from critics and viewers, it is still going strong today, almost a month after the theatrical release date. However, despite all the positive feedback, a lot of people will be waiting for the movie to come out on DVD & Blu-ray, or until it’s available to stream on the likes of Netflix, before watching it for the very first time.

If you are holding out on the movie arriving on a streaming platform, Netflix is most likely not going to be the go-to place. At least not for certain anyway. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse does not fall into the current deal between Disney and Netflix. While Spider-Man is part of the Marvel Universe, and Disney owns the right to Marvel, the Spider-Man rights are owned by Sony, which does have a deal with Netflix. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse falls into the Sony category and therefore is not guaranteed to arrive on Netflix.

It may do one day, with enough popularity Netflix will no doubt be desperate to add it to their platform, but it isn’t a guarantee. So we just have to wait and see.
