Where can you stream American Horror Story: 1984?
American Horror Story: 1984 premieres tomorrow night. You’ll want to know where you can watch it without your cable. Here’s where to stream.
Will American Horror Story: 1984 be on Netflix? What about Amazon Prime Video or Hulu? With American Horror Story Season 9 premiering tomorrow night (Sept. 18), you’ll want to know where you can stream the latest episodes.
Where to stream AHS: 1984
Sadly, you won’t be able to use your Netflix or Amazon Prime subscriptions just yet for the latest season. While past seasons do go to the streaming services, the current seasons will only be available through one streaming source in the United States: Hulu.
Remember, FX is now owned by Disney, which also owns Hulu. Even when the Disney+ streaming service is launched in November, FX’s American Horror Story will still head to Hulu. Disney+ is for family-friendly and Hulu for the adult content. At least that stays simple, right?
Episodes will be available on Hulu the day after the new episode airs. However, if you have Hulu Live TV, you can watch FX live. That means you’ll be able to watch 1984 as soon as it airs at 10 p.m. on Sept. 18. And yes, you can then stream the following day if you find there were things you missed. There are always things you miss when it comes to American Horror Story.

Streaming American Horror Story Season 9 when it ends
Once AHS: 1984 is over, where will you be able to stream them? It will initially remain on Hulu, but eventually, you’re going to be able to stream in other places as long as licensing deals don’t change in the upcoming months.
AHS always goes to both Netflix and Amazon Prime after it’s run on the network. But this isn’t for about a year, usually a week or so after the newer season premieres on FX. Since that usually happens around this time of the year, we’re looking at the last week of September for the slasher movie-themed season to drop on Amazon Prime and Netflix. This suits AHS: Apocalypse, which is on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video next week.
What is American Horror Story: 1984 about?
The ninth season of the anthology horror series has a 1980s setting, just in case the title didn’t give it away. The trailers have given us a slasher movie feel, which is fitting for the year. 1984 was the year A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, and many more great horror movies in the slasher genre were released. It’s not surprising that there’s a setting very much like Camp Crystal Lake in the promos for the season.
Of course, a part of me wonders if there’s going to be a Big Brother element to the season. After all, when I hear “1984”, I think of the George Orwell novel.
