Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins announced Supernatural Season 15 will be the last. An announcement that has left me completely lost for words.
If you missed out on the news yesterday, Supernatural Season 15 will be the last. Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins took to social media to tell the SPN Family the time to bring things to a close had arrived. A moment that sent shockwaves throughout the world, quite literally.
The biggest surprise, at first, was the initial announcement. No one saw it coming.
For example, a friend of mine, who writes for a Supernatural fan site came across the video Jensen, Jared, and Misha had made within minutes of it being shared. She caught it so early that she had published the news and shared it on her Facebook page before any of the major entertainment news outlets like Entertainment Weekly, The Hollywood Reporter, etc, ha reported the news themselves.
Hey #SPNFamily here’s a little message from @JensenAckles @mishacollins and me. I’m so grateful for the family that’s been built because of the show. Excuse me while i go cry. pic.twitter.com/QDXDsAyIfK

This resulted in a wave of backlash from her followers, accusing her of spreading fake news and calling her an outright liar. Those who made this deduction had done so because, instead of actually reading her article, an article where she included the video Jensen, Jared, and Misha had shared, they immediately went and checked if anyone else had reported the news. They hadn’t because she had caught it so quickly.
This reaction showed two things, a) emotions were, as expected, high amongst the SPN Family, and b) nobody had been giving a heads up this was on the way, not even Samantha Highfill at Entertainment Weekly, who is practically a Supernatural Guru and is usually aware of things like this happening before anyone else.
Upon learning the news myself I was initially shocked, and then, well, this is part where I stumble. I don’t know how I feel. Part of me knew this was coming, but was I ready for it? Was I hell. And now that it is here, I am filled with wave of different emotions.
I’m sad, happy, gutted, excited, let down, uplifted, I just know how to feel. But I think I know why I feel this way. Because, for once in my life I understand, as in truly understand the saying, “the end of an era.”
I’ve said this saying before, I’ve written it on many occasions as well, but it wasn’t until last night, when Supernatural announced this was the end, that I truly understood the saying. Because this is the first time where something that has been a huge part of my life has ended.
I wasn’t there when Supernatural began. I entered the world of Supernatural in Season 5 when my girlfriend, my now beautiful wife, introduced me to the series. But while I haven’t been around since the beginning, it has still been a massive part of my life.
So to know this chapter is finally coming to a close, and truly close, not differ, alter, upgrade or anything like that, but truly close, is new to me. It is an actual end of an era, and this is why I don’t know how to feel, because this is all new to me.
