The Boys is renewed for Season 3, after-show coming soon

It’s official! Amazon has given The Boys an early third season renewal. There’s also an after-show coming for the second season.

The Boys cast and EPs got the chance to share some exciting teases (and a clip) for Season 2 at Comic-Con@Home, but that isn’t the news we’re stoked about. It’s all about The Boys Season 3 officially happening.

Just like the second season renewal, Amazon has confirmed the third season early. That means we’re going into the second season without worrying about how it ends. Considering Eric Kripke is known for his cliffhanger endings, this is excellent news. We know there’s going to be some sort of major cliffhanger to resolve in the third season!

Few details about the third season were revealed. We’ll likely get another eight episodes, which has been the case for both the first and second seasons of the show. It makes sense to keep things contained, especially to make sure the show is binge-worthy.

Writing work has already started. Kripke has started up a virtual writer’s room, and the show will likely film in Toronto and surrounding areas again.

There’s an after-show for The Boys coming

On top of the renewal news, we’ve learned there’s going to be an after-show. It’s called Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys and will be hosted by Aisha Tyler.

Cast and EPs will get the chance to discuss their characters and the scenes fans will get to see. The first episode of the after-show will air on Aug. 28, which will likely be a recap of the first season and a look ahead at things to expect in the first three episodes on Sept. 4.

The weekly release after the first three episodes now makes more sense. It would be impossible to do an after-show after a full binge-watch. This will allow us to breakdown what we’ve seen, listen to the actors about their characters, and get some teases of things to come.

The Boys Season 2 whale clip

Of course, we can’t not mention the sneak peek for the second season. After getting a look at the first three minutes and Stormfront’s introduction a few weeks ago, we now get to see The Boys vs. The Deep (and a poor, unfortunate whale).

I’m not even going to try to explain the whale. Just take a look at the clip below. If you thought the dolphin was bad, this really is diabolical.

Overall, it was an exciting panel with some great teases. Comic-Con@Home has been a great chance for everyone to learn more about the shows. This would be a great way to offer the content maybe a week or so after the panel to those who can’t get to the conventions.
