The CW fall 2021 schedule: Riverdale, Nancy Drew, and more on the move

The CW isn’t just changing things by adding Saturdays to its lineup. The CW fall 2021 schedule is seeing some major programming changes.

In case you missed the news, The CW is adding Saturdays to the fall 2021 lineup. That night will be made up of unscripted shows, and it’s the first time ever the young-skewed network has offered Saturday night programming.

That isn’t the only change coming to The CW fall 2021 schedule. The current TV programs are getting a shakeup. It follows its parent network, CBS, making some big changes to the fall 2021 lineup.

Many of the usual fall suspects are being held to the midseason. However, there are some fall programs returning as normal, but for a limited run before returning at a later date. Let’s get into some of the details.

Riverdale, Nancy Drew, and more moving nights

We start with some of the night moves. Riverdale and Nancy Drew are both departing the Wednesday night lineup. Riverdale Season 6 will air on Tuesdays following new episodes of The Flash. It looks like The CW is splitting up its superhero dramas instead of having blocks like its had for the 2020-2021 season.

Meanwhile, Nancy Drew Season 3 will air on Fridays at 9/8c. This could be a worrying sign for some. However, it’s worth noting that Friday nights haven’t been the traditional death slot they used to be. Dynasty and Charmed have both remained on the air arguably due to performances on Friday nights (and international success).

Batwoman is departing Sundays for Season 3. It will air on Wednesdays following new episodes of DC’s LEgends of Tomorrow. This is the only night that has a block of CWverse shows.

There are a few new shows as part of The CW fall 2021 schedule. 4400 is one of the reboots of the season, and it will air on Mondays after new episodes of All American. The All American spin-off, All American: Homecoming, is being held to the midseason.

Legends of the Hidden Temple is getting a live-action reboot and will air on Sundays to kick-start the week. That will be followed by the U.S. version of Killer Camp.

The only night that looks the same is Thursdays.

Oh, and some of these shows are only getting five episodes before going on a break. There are a lot of shows to air throughout The CW’s schedule, and it looks like we’ll have a block of episodes before moving onto another show. The seasons will also likely be shorter as the pandemic is still causing some problems for filming.
