The CW January 2021 schedule: A tentative plan

The CW is the first network to think past the fall amid the coronavirus pandemic. Here’s The CW January 2021 schedule. Keep in mind it’s tentative.

Fall TV isn’t going to look anything like we’re used to. In a way, that could be a good thing. It gets the networks out of the seasonal cycles. However, networks need to put a tentative plan together for returning shows. The CW January 2021 schedule.

It’s worth noting that this schedule is just tentative. The hope is that shows can start filming late summer or early fall. That will give everyone time to film the episodes and run them through post-production in time for a January release. If lockdown in various parts of the USA and Canada continues longer then this will mean The CW will have to look at the plan again closer to the time.

For now, we have a winter lineup that is much like our usual fall schedule. The Flash continues to hold its Tuesday night slot while Wednesdays are all about Riverdale and Nancy DrewBatwoman keeps its Sunday slot with Charmed running in the hour after it.

Wait, Charmed Season 3 in the hour after BatwomanSupergirl isn’t part of The CW January 2021 schedule. It’s not that The CW worries about it but that Melissa Benoist’s pregnancy means that filming will need to be delayed for a little longer. That’s okay. We know it’ll be worth the wait.

Two new shows are confirmed for the January 2021 lineup, which would have been the fall pilots. Superman & Lois takes over the 9 p.m. slot on Tuesdays following The Flash. This makes sense considering the strength of The Flash. Putting another superhero show in the hour afterward gives it a good chance of success.

Walker—the name for the Walker, Texas Ranger reboot—will air on Thursdays at 8 p.m.. In other words, it’s taking over the Supernatural timeslot, which makes a world of sense. Jared Padalecki is headlining the new series so there’s a strong chance Supernatural fans will tune in for it. Legacies will follow on as it does with Supernatural right now.

Mondays continue to be taken up by All American and Black Lightning while Fridays are now going to be used for popular unscripted programs on the network.
