The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Season 1 has come to an end on Disney Plus. Now eyes are on whether Season 2 will happen.

The story that focuses on Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes teaming up in a world without Steve Rogers has received mixed reviews. The first half of the season didn’t seem to go very far, not offering much more than a movie could have given. That turned around in the second half of the season, especially as it really focused on why Sam Wilson didn’t want to take up Captain America’s shield.

In the end, he found a sense of peace in following Steve Rogers’s wishes. With a Wakanda suit, Falcon came in as the new Captain America. And the card title for the final episode changed the show’s name. It’s no longer The Falcon and the Winter Soldier but Captain America and the Winter Soldier.

Will The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Season 2 happen?

Of course, it’s led to questions about a second season. Will there be one? Will it officially change its name to Captain America and the Winter Soldier and create another limited series-style show?

There is a set up for a second season, for sure. The post-credits scene saw Sam manage to get a pardon for Sharon Carter and she got a job with her old department again. She’ll be able to work with the Avengers once more, although I’m still not happy with the way the writers handled this awesome character.

There’s also Johnny Walker who is still out there and could be a huge threat to Sam and Bucky (and the world). And it’s not like we should fully rule out Zemo. There are a lot of angles for Season 2.

That doesn’t mean a second season, though. This could just open the door to movies, which is arguably what this series and WandaVision were designed to do. They were that stepping stone to kick-off Phase 4 of the MCU.
