The Haunting of Bly Manor doesn’t need a second season
Despite enjoying The Haunting of Bly Manor, it doesn’t need a second season. Here are my reasons why Netflix should keep it as one season.
I will start by saying that I don’t think Netflix is even considering The Haunting of Bly Manor Season 2. This seems to be one of those shows that will remain a limited series.
And that’s exactly the way it should be.
While I thoroughly enjoyed the season, it doesn’t need to be continued. Like it’s predecessor, The Haunting of Hill House, the story is complete with just the one season. There is nothing left to say.
How did The Haunting of Bly Manor end?
Let’s just look at the ending. There were three distinct endings to the tale.
The first was the haunting at the house. We learned the Lady in the Lake, who was responsible for the majority of deaths on the property, was Viola Lloyd. She tied all the ghosts to the property because of her stubbornness to move on after death.
The second ending was for Dani. She sacrificed herself to save Flora, but did get to live some years before the Lady in the Lake threatened to take over. Dani went back to Bly Manor and sunk to the bottom of the lake, allowing herself to rest there. She wouldn’t walk the grounds in the way Viola did, keeping everyone who ever set foot there safe.
Finally, there was Jamie’s story. She was the narrator of the tale, and it turned out it was a love story between her and Dani rather than a ghost story. At the very end, we find out that she runs water and leaves the door slightly open as she sleeps, hoping to even just get a glimpse of her lost love. That lost love, Dani, visits regularly.

It’s time for another story
Whether you liked the story or not, it was a bittersweet tale of lost love. Some people found it boring, but there were a lot of elements to the story that would leave you hanging on until the end to get answers.
But that’s it. The story of The Haunting of Bly Manor is finished. There’s no need for any more.
That doesn’t mean Netflix shouldn’t renew The Haunting franchise. It’s time to move onto another house and another ghost story. The next one might be scary or it might be another bittersweet love story. We’ll have to wait and see.
