After a three-and-a-half-month wait, Netflix has made a decision. The Umbrella Academy Season 3 is officially happening.

We’ve waited patiently for three-and-a-half-months, and now that patience is paying off. The Umbrella Academy Season 3 is officially renewed. The rumors were true.

Netflix announced the decision last week, according to TVLine. And with the renewal decision came an episode order.

Just like the previous seasons, The Umbrella Academy Season 3 will have 10 episodes. This works well for a Netflix show, making it easily bingeable in a weekend and focused on one particular storyline.

Filming on The Umbrella Academy Season 3 will start in 2021

There was more good news. The renewal announcement also included some details on filming.

The Umbrella Academy Season 3 is set to start filming in February 2021 in Toronto.

Now there is something to consider here. While filming is slated to happen then, it may have to be pushed. Ontario is in the middle of its second wave, and the numbers are increasing each week. Premier Doug Ford has said that a full lockdown may happen, which could put a halt on filming.

Hopefully, that won’t last into 2021, but we just don’t know right now. We’ll be keeping a close eye on this as we’re so close to the filming location.

With a February start date for filming, there is a chance that the show will premiere in February 2022. We’re not staking anything on that just yet, though.

What is the third season about?

Like the previous seasons, The Umbrella Academy Season 3 will follow the graphic novels by Gerard Way. We don’t have a storyline yet, though.

It will pick up where the second season left off. The Hargreeves siblings got back from the 1960s to their own timeline, only to find their father very much alive.

He wasn’t the only one. Ben was also alive and the leader of The Sparrow Academy. Revealing all to Sir Reginald Hargreeves has completely changed history, and now the Umbrella Academy has no home and no father.

What will this mean for everyone? They’ll need to work together to fix history.
