5 top TV shows to watch this weekend: Aug. 8-9
It’s a quiet summer, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing on at all. Here are five great TV shows you need to watch this weekend.
It’s certainly a quiet summer. August seems to be extremely quiet, with very little being released both on network TV and on streaming services. That doesn’t mean there are no TV shows to watch at all.
This weekend, Aug. 8-9, has some great new releases. Other releases happened during the week but now you’ve got time to binge-watch. It’s time to offer some top picks for the week. Here are the five TV shows you need to check out this weekend.
The Alienist: Angel of Darkness season finale
We’ll start with the TV crime drama over on TNT. The Alienist: Angel of Darkness has been an excellent follow-on to the first season. We’ve had some brilliant character development and a storyline that has kept us on the edge, even when we know who kidnapped Baby Ana.
The two-hour finale airs on TNT on Sunday, Aug. 9 starting at 9/8c. It’s time to see if the team can bring Libby down. Most importantly, can they do it with all lives intact?
The Angel of Darkness: Book 2 of the Alienist: A Novel (Dr. Laszlo Kreizler)
The Rain Season 3
Turn to Netflix for the next release. The Rain Season 3 is now streaming, and it’s the final season of the series. Simone and Rasmus will face off against each other, both with different opinions about how to save the world.
If you haven’t checked out the series yet, opt for that this weekend. It’s an excellent Danish post-apocalyptic drama, and it’s sad to see it come to an end. However, all good things must eventually come to an end and at least with this one, we have a closed ending with questions answered.
Perry Mason Season 1 finale
Love period TV crime dramas? Perry Mason is on HBO and HBO Max. You can watch the season finale on Sunday, Aug. 9 at 9/8c. It’s time to see the story wrap up—not completely, as there is a second season confirmed.
You can spend the weekend catching up. All seven episodes so far are available to stream on HBO and HBO Max.
Nailed It! Mexico Season 2
Need a bit of reality TV? Nailed It! is an excellent TV show to check out. The entire family will adore it. This is one that my kids regularly watch with me.
Instead of the original version, we have the second season of Nailed It! Mexico available on Netflix today. It’s still just as awesome watching the wannabe bakers attempt the extravagant and expertly fail.
Wizards: Tales of Arcadia
We’re sticking with Netflix for the last one. This is for those with families or those who just enjoyed the Acardia shows up to now. Wizards is the last of the trilogy. It’s time for everyone to come together and save the world.
While Wizards: Tales of Arcadia is available now, you do have time all weekend to watch from the very beginning. You’ll need to so you can understand everything that’s going on in the final episodes of the animated series.
