There are a couple of new shows coming to NBC in the fall, and The Irrational is one of them. What is this new crime series about?

Despite the strike, NBC has a couple of new scripted shows coming in the fall. The Irrational is one of them. The series was picked up back in December, allowing for writing and filming to happen early on.

While we won’t likely have a full season ready, there are enough episodes to give us a good idea of whether this new show is going to be worth watching or not. Before we get into it, it’s important to know what it’s about. This at least tells us if it’s in the right genre or not.

What is The Irrational about?

The series is based on the book Predictably Irrational by Dan Ariely*. The novel follows a man who understand behavior science like no other. He uses his understandings to help law enforcement, companies, and more in high stake cases.

You see, human behavior is anything but predictable and rational. This series is something that is going to challenge our own understanding of it just like the novel did. If you thought Criminal Minds and Bull gave us an insight into human behavior, this show will challenge all that you learned.

We don’t get to know too many details of what to expect in the series. All we know is that Jesse L. Martin is playing a man named Alec Mercer who will help various people to figure out human behavior in their cases. It’s set up for something intriguing, and the trailers for the series make it clear that it’s going to be something fun.
