The Suspect is streaming on Sundance Now and AMC+ this week. What is the new British series about? Here’s all you need to know.

If you love British crime dramas, you’ll want to turn your attention to Sundance Now and AMC+. The Suspect is the release of the week. It drops tonight—well, technically tomorrow, but it’s in the middle of the night so we’re counting it as tonight.

The series stars Poldark‘s* Aidan Turner, but in a role you are certainly not used to seeing him in. Just what can you expect in this new series, and why is it worth watching?

The Suspect synopsis

Turner stars as Joe O’Loughlin, a clinical psychologist who seems to have the perfect life. He has a loving wife, a doting daughter, and a successful practice. He’s even a successful author, with a social media presence that would make even the greatest influencer jealous.

Now the police need his help. When a young woman is found in a shallow grave, they need to work out if it’s murder or suicide. Who better than a clinical psychologist to help get to the bottom of it?

This is where things start to take a dark turn. Joe is all too happy to help the police. It’s clear that he’s hiding something, but is that to do with the murder? Is it just a recent diagnosis that is making him act erratic and strange? The police will realize that they have their work cut out for them. What if this clinical psychologist is learning how to be the perfect murderer?
