When will the Friends reunion special start filming?
We know a Friends reunion is coming, but it seems the news was announced and then nothing. We now have a start date for filming.
Granted, filming was put on hold due to the pandemic. It’s a story you’ll hear a lot at the moment. Some projects have been canceled outright (yes, we’re still salty about The Society Season 2) while others have just been put on hold.
The good news is the Friends reunion is one of the latter. It’s only on hold, and that “on hold” status is coming to an end. According to Deadline, the Friends reunion special will start filming next week. Yes, after Easter 2021. HBO Max has not confirmed anything just yet.

When will the Friends reunion special air on HBO Max?
We don’t have a premiere date for the special just yet. That’s not surprising considering the filming is only slated to start next week.
Right now, it’s not clear exactly what’s in store for this reunion special, but it’s likely to be very similar to the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air special. This will help to keep filming time to a minimum, and we know some of the stars are very busy with other projects.
The special is unscripted, but Davis Schwimmer has teased that there’s something in it that the cast will read. Could we get a “25 years later” type of scripted scene just to see where the characters are now? There’s hope, right?
Hopefully, the reunion will come to HBO Max sometime in 2021. There’s a little bit of hope since it’s starting filming soon.
