We are more than ready for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and now we just need to know when the series will premiere on Disney+.

The Percy Jackson movie attempted to bring the books to life, but it didn’t quite meet expectations. There are higher hopes for the TV series, which has a standout cast.

Disney+ will bring the show to our screens before the end of the year. That’s great news for those worried about what to watch in the coming months. The broadcast networks don’t have much in terms of scripted content due to the current strike action, and the streaming networks are bound to start running out of content next year.

Well, Disney+ will bring us Percy Jackson and the Olympians*, and we’re ready for it. When can we expect it?

When will Percy Jackson and the Olympians premiere on Disney+?

Get Wednesday, Dec. 20 in your diary. This is the date of the premiere.

The first two episodes will come out at once. The remaining episodes of the series will arrive weekly, very similar to what Hulu is currently doing with Only Murders in the Building.

There is a teaser out, but it doesn’t give a lot away. It’s clear someone is expecting Percy, and if you’ve read the books, you know who that is. We also get a look at some of the graphics and the styles of mythological creatures that we’ll get to see.

Walker Scobell will take on the role of Percy Jackson this time. He looks a little older than the 12-year-old that we know of in the books, but we’ll accept that production needed to go for someone a little older. That’s what happened with the movies, too. 16-18 makes sense.

Just as Percy comes to terms with his demigod abilities, Zeus accuses Percy of stealing his master lightning bolt. He didn’t do it, but he has to prove that. In come his friends, Grover and Annabeth (Aryan Simhadri and Leah Sava Jeffries) as they help Percy retrieve the lightning bolt and save Olympus.
