We knew there would be a wait for The Last of Us Season 2 on HBO. It turns out we’re in for a much longer wait than anticipated.
When it comes to quality, it means we need patience for new seasons of top TV dramas. We knew that we wouldn’t get The Last of Us Season 2 in 2023. We had hoped for a 2024 premiere, and that looked possible at first.
Things have changed. HBO has made it clear that we probably won’t see the second season until 2025. Yes, 2025! Will this mean an abrupt end to the series?
Why is The Last of Us Season 2 pushed to 2025?
The news came from TVLine, and it’s all linked to the writers strike. The writers rooms were forced to shut down because of the strike. We’re not blaming the writers on this at all, but it is disappointing that it means we need to wait for the new season.
Without scripts, the productions can’t go on. House of the Dragon Season 2 is still filming despite the strike. The scripts have been written, and the show will just have to deal with rewrites—or not change anything at all. It will be interesting to see what happens in terms of quality with this decision.
The Last of Us can’t even risk that. The scripts aren’t ready, which means production can’t start. And this strike is looking to be a long one, so it could push production in 2024, which means a 2025 premiere.
