The Rookie Season 6 is officially happening. Now all eyes are on when the season will premiere on ABC. How long will the hiatus be?

The Rookie Season 5 ended back on May 2, and since then, all eyes have been on a resolution for that cliffhanger. There’s a life on the line, and we need to know if we’re losing another cop or not.

The only way to find out is to tune in for The Rookie Season 6 premiere. ABC has set the fall schedule, but is this series on the list. The answer may surprise you.

When is The Rookie Season 6 premiere date?

This series is not on the list of fall returns. It’s not the only scripted show not to get a fall return. In fact, there are no scripted shows in the fall lineup on ABC at all. We’ll likely see other networks follow soon, except for those with acquisitions.

ABC is planning for the current strike involving the writers to go on longer. Then there’s the SAG union members who have agreed to strike if necessary. All of this is sure to push everything back for production and post-production, and ABC isn’t going to run the risk of no content in the fall.

Instead, The Rookie, along with all other scripted shows, are set for a 2024 return. The earliest we’ll get The Rookie Season 6 premiere is January 2024. Of course, there’s no guarantee of that, but we could see it happening as long as there are episodes ready. We’ll be sure to keep an eye on the strike action and the news for the cop drama.
